Benjamin [Ben] has experience in the drone and survey industries as well as being an educator in post-secondary education. In May 2018 he founded Octal7 Inc. to provide technical services to organizations. Much of his recent experience has been municipal drafting and software development using AutoCAD .NET and other APIs related to surveying and design. He has been working with .NET since 2003 and has 14 years experience working directly with AutoCAD .NET APIs. Concurrent to the 14 years working with AutoCAD .NET APIs Ben has been working in the survey and geomatics disciplines. His work has had a great deal of crossover between software development, drafting, mapping and geomatics. Prior to working with these APIs he worked with AutoLisp and VBA giving him 17 years experience with these technologies. At the same time, he has 17 years drafting experience in both mechanical and surveying disciplines. During this time Ben has used AutoCAD and Inventor to create mechanical drawings and design packages in the various roles and organizations he has been associated with. In his career AutoCAD, Inventor, 3D Studio MAX and Photoshop have all been used to create countless graphical and visual creations for manuals, reports, marketing material and other conceptual works. His combined knowledge of drafting, design, coding, automation and database systems position him with a wide range of skills. With an eagerness to embrace new projects he is open to branching into other industries to expand his knowledge and business.
